You are looking at the entrance into my office complex. This is a lovely garden that is located centrally to the eleven office suites in this complex. My office suite is located in the far back, left hand corner. It offers a very private and serene space for counseling.
The central garden is filled with flowers and a fountain. You will find a quiet place to sit by the fountain and find that the calm feel of the garden is extended into my office space.
Beautiful fountain grasses to enjoy!
You are now in my waiting room. Comfortable couches and some quiet toys for child clients are available. You will rarely encounter other clients as I build in 10-15 minutes in between clients to offer extra privacy and confidentiality. In addition, A private restroom sits adjacent to my office waiting area for your convenience.
Welcome to my office. My credentials hang over my desk area. I am a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor. In addition, I am a Registered Play Therapist and Supervisor and a Certified Child and Parenting Specialist.
This is my conversation area where we will explore your strengths and collaborate on potential strategies and solutions for the issues you have come in to address.
Behind my conversation area lies my play therapy space. You can see the materials I use for doll house therapy. Children and sometimes teens find this helpful.
The table area is where I do therapeutic art and other expressive therapeutic type activities. Children, teens and families all find these beneficial. Even adults can benefit from art and expressive type activities.
Sand tray therapy is is a favorite of many children and teens. Families also learn a great deal about one another through this kind of therapy. It can be used with adults and couples who are interested in exploring this extremely powerful therapy. The sand tray represents the person or family's world. The sand tray miniatures are used to create sand trays that express what is going on in the person's world. Healing, insight and resolution can all be found in the sand tray.
Puppet therapy can be helpful in that it creates some distance for those using the puppets, allowing them to express themselves more freely. Children ,teens and families enjoy creating puppet shows that typically revolve around the challenges they are facing. Many times the puppets are a vehicle to explore potential solutions.
Bibliotherapy is another venue for working with children. They relate to the characters in the book and find potential strategies in dealing with their own worries and upsets.
Child centered play therapy is utilized using the above kinds of materials. Children act out what is going on in their lives. They access their feelings, process what is happening in their lives and try out potential solutions in their dramatic play. Older children enjoy making up and acting out plays and movies in regard to their issues using some of these materials.
This concludes the tour of my office. I hope I will have an opportunity to show you around in person in the near future.
