What to Expect

Hello to You as a Prospective New Client.

Here is what to expect as you begin services with me.

  • I am open to you calling me ahead of time, before you make an appointment to ask questions about what to expect and anything that you need to know before we would set an appointment. This is also a good time for us both to see if I am the best person to help you. If not, I always try to suggest others that might be a better fit.

  • After we decide it is a go, we will find an appointment time that is workable for both of us.

  • I will then set you up in my schedule and will send you information about my practice and intake paperwork for you to fill out and send back to me through my online virtual platform or we can arrange a different way to get paperwork back to me if you need an alternate way to get back to me. You will register into my platform so I can send you 24 hour ahead of time and 1 hour before reminders of our scheduled in person or virtual session. 
  • If you are signed up for a virtual session, you will also be sent a link to use to go into your session. 
  • My virtual, online platform is through Therapy Sites and is encrypted and HIPAA compliant. So it is safe and secure.

  • I normally ask for paperwork to be sent back at least a day before your appointment, so I can read it and be prepared for your session when we meet.

  • The first session is a time for us to get to know each other a bit. You can ask whatever questions you need to. I will talk with you about why you are seeking services and we will create goals for us to use as a guidepost on what we will focus on. Of course, sometimes things change and we will adjust to fit whatever your needs are.

  • We will talk about your background so I can understand where you are coming from to be able to help you.

  • I am person / client led, so I will many times at the beginning of a session ask what you feel is best to focus on for that particular session. This will probably center around your goals, but at times you may need something different. That is ok, we will go where you need to go.

  • As to how often we meet, most times we start with once a week. Sometimes due to a financial situation or time constraints, we will meet every other week. My sessions are 50 minute sessions

  • As things get better for you we will meet less. I met with clients only when they need me. I love to see clients get better.

  • We will go at your pace and at your comfort level.

  • We will use approaches that are the best fit for you.
